Alla Aranovskaya

Ms. Alla Aranovskaya is the founding first violinist of the Grammy-nominated St. Petersburg String Quartet, and has been intensively touring throughout North America, South America, Europe and Asia. Her many honors include a Grammy nomination, “Best Record” in both Stereo Review and Gramophone magazines, and top prizes at several international chamber music competitions including Melbourne, Australia (1991); Tokyo, Japan (1989); and Florence, Italy (1989).


Highlights of her career include performances at Lincoln Center, Library of Congress, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, London Wigmore Hall, Manchester Bridgewater Hall, Dublin National Concert Hall, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Great Hall and appearance at such festivals as Luzern (Switzerland), Schleswig-Holstein (Germany), MIMO (Brazil), Buxton (England), Fishguard (Wales), Music Mountain, Rockport, Mainly Mozart in San Diego, and many more. She has recently collaborated with such internationally renowned artists as Leon Fleisher, Michael Tree, Peter Donohoe, and Misha Dichter. Alla Aranovskaya is also a member of the St. Petersburg Piano Quartet that debuted in New York in May 2014.


In 2014, Ms. Aranovskaya initiated a revival of one of the first violin competitions in the world; the Leopold Auer International Violin Competition in St. Petersburg, Russia. She’s been serving as a jury member of the competition since then.

Ms. Aranovskaya’s more than 48 years of teaching experience include professorships in St. Petersburg State Conservatory, Russia; Oberlin Conservatory, and Wichita State University, USA. Her students have won numerous prizes at national and international competitions. In addition, she regularly gives master classes and workshops around the world. Before launching a chamber music career, Ms. Aranovskaya was a member of the Mariinsky (Kirov) Theatre under the direction of Yuri Temirkanov and Valery Gergiev.


Ms. Aranovskaya received her education at the St. Petersburg State Conservatory and at the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College in St. Petersburg, Russia, where her primary teachers were Mark Komissarov, Wieniawsky Competition winner, and Vladimir Ovcharek, the first violinist of the Taneyev String Quartet. She was a prize winner of the All-Russian Violin Competition (1985).

The ensemble was included in the book of the American publishing house "Strings" (2000), which presented the ten best quartets of the 21st century. From 1987 to 1999 she taught at the Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) Conservatory. She trained the laureates of international competitions (Daniil Austrian, Anita Mishukova, Maria Bessmeltseva, Yulia Sakharova), concertmaster of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra and Munich Radio Orchestra Maxim Kosinov and many others. Since the late 1990s, she has worked in the USA, at the Oberlin Conservatory, (Ohio).


The first violin of the quartet "Saint Petersburg", which, touring all over the world, has given more than five thousand concerts over the thirty-seven years of its existence.

Since 2009, he has been holding annual master courses around the world. In 2016, concerts and master classes of the project were held in Astrakhan, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Tashkent, Omsk and ten US cities. The concert of the project "Russian Reflections" got the recognition by the US Congress (September 2016).

She conducts active educational work to restore the history and biography of the teacher, the founder of the Russian and world violin school Leopold Auer, in 2013 she organized a society named after him, and since 2014 she has been on the jury of the Leopold Auer International Violin and Quartet Competition. Родилась в Ленинграде. Училась в детской музыкальной школе имени С. С. Ляховицкой.

Окончила Музыкальное училище имени Римского-Корсакова и Ленинградскую консерваторию. Играла в оркестре Кировского театра. Победительница Седьмого Всероссийского конкурса скрипачей в Казани (1985). Совместно сo скрипачкой А. Горяиновой, альтистом А. Догадиным  и виолончелистом Л. Шукаевым создаёт струнный квартет Ленинградской консерватории имени Римского-Корсакова (позднее названный «Санкт-Петербург»), ставший лауреатом Всесоюзного конкурса струнных квартетов (1987), Первого конкурса струнных квартетов имени Шостаковича (1987), конкурса камерных ансамблей Мин-Он в Токио (1989), конкурса камерных ансамблей "Премия Витторио Гуи" (1989), международного конкурса камерных ансамблей в Мельбурне (Австралия, 1991) и выдвинутый на премию Грэмми.

Ансамбль вошёл в книгу американского издательства "Strings" (2000), в которой были представлены десять лучших квартетов XXI века. С 1987 по 1999 год преподавала в Ленинградской (ныне Санкт-Петербургская) консерватории. Воспитала лауреатов международных конкурсов (Даниил Австрих, Анита Мишукова, Мария Бессмельцева, Юлия Сахарова), концертмейстера Гамбургского симфонического оркестра и Mюнхенского радио оркестра Максима Косинова и многих других. С конца 1990-х годов работала в США, в Оберлинской консерватории , (Огайо).

Первая скрипка квартета «Санкт-Петербург», который, гастролируя по всему миру, за тридцать пять лет  существования дал более пяти тысяч концертов.

С 2009 года проводит ежегодные мастер-курсы по всему миру. В 2016 году концерты и мастер-классы проекта прошли в Астрахани, Санкт- Петербурге, Москве, Ташкенте, Омске и в десяти городах США. Концерт проекта "Русские размышления" был удостоен признания Конгресса СШA (сентябрь 2016 года).

Ведёт активную просветительскую деятельность по восстановлению  истории и биографии педагога, создателя русской и мировой скрипичной школы Леопольда Ауэра, в 2013 году организовала общество его имени, а с 2014 года входит в жюри «Международного конкурса скрипачей и квартетов имени Леопольда Ауэра». Печатается в русских и американских журналах
